Where There Is a Will There Is a Way

One of the most important things to succcss is a firm.reso1ution. A great man is al ways one who has a firm resolution and an inflexible spirit. One will never succeed all his life without a firm will to get the final victory.
As a rule, great tasks are accomplished by men of strong will. For example, Dr. Sun Yatsen set the Cbinese people free from the rule of the Qing Dynasty through a long pcriod of hard struggle. Many of his attempts failed and many of bis followers were killed, but he had an inflexible spirit and sticked to his cause. Finally, he made the revo lution of 1911 a success.
A student who has no resolution will never succeed in his studies. The same is true of men in all walks of life. We must have a firm resolution first, if we wish to succeed. We must always remember thc old saying that where there is a will there is a way.

The Place of Science and Technology in e1Modern Life

Human hfe can not continue without. science and technology. For many years, human society has developed with the advance of science and technology while the develop ment of science and technology has in turn brought the process to mankind. So the life we are living now is more civilized than that of our forefather's.
The development of science and technology has brought about many changes in peopie's life. For example, the invention of television and thc spaceship has opened a newera for mankind. Through the use of TV people can hear the sound and learn the events which happened thousands of miles away. Owing to the invention of the spaceship and the rocket, the dream of man's landing on the moon has now come true.
Science and technology also play an important role in our. socialist construction. We may say that our socialist construcdon is just tike a skyscraper, while science and technology are its base. Without the base, the skyscraper can't be built up. Therefore, we should try our best to contribute to the development of science and technology so as to provide a more solid base to build our country.

Practice Makes Perfect

Practice makse perfect, It means that after you have plenty of practice in what you are doing, you will be perfect in it. He who practises a lot will spend less time mastering the skills than he who seldom or never practises.
For example, when we learn English, we have to learn grammer, words, expres sions and so on. The most important thing may be how to put what we've learned into practice, lf you only learn the grammatic rules by heart and don' t do enough exercises, it is certain that you can't understand them perfectly. But if you practise a lot, maybe you will understand them more deeply and you carl find some good methods of applying them. Memorize the English words whenever time permits, and we can easily memorize them and even can find a way to memorize them more quickly.
There is another good example for it. A famous singer can sing very well. Of course, his talent is very important, but the practice is necessary. It is the practice that makes the singer sing better and better.
It is evident that practice is importer to everybody. If you want to improve your study and work, you should remember that practice makes perfect.

Haste Makes Waste

There is an old saying, "Haste makes waste." It's the experience of our forefa thers, howewr, it is correct in many cases even today.
Usually, if you act faster, you can reach your goals earlier. But it isn't always thecase. If you emphasize only on speed but ignore the quality of your work, your effect will be the opposite. The more hasty you arc, the slowcr you achieve completeness and success.
Suppose you are preparing for your final examination. There are a lot of exercises to do and many notes to memorize. The fact that you have no enough time inakes you very worried. So you have to read and write continuously, without rest, without sleep, with out relaxation. The result is that your brain is less and less efficient, your process is slower and slower, The situation goes from bad to worse. All your efforts lead to nothing.
On the contrary, if you do your preparations with a calculated plan and carry out the plan step by step, your work will be effective. Consequently, you will take part in the exams confidently with good preparations.
Whatever you do, please remember the saying—Haste makes waste. If you under stand it and apply it to your study or work. you'll benefit a lot from it.

Leaving or Staying A Choice upon Graduation

Having stayed on campus for so many yearsm some students become bored and can't wait to pick up a job. They are eager to lead a life that is less stressful intellectually and less pressing economically. In their eyes jobs can provide them with constant opportunities for solving problemsmwhich demands a combination of schoolbook knowledge and practical abilitieB
However, some students plan to continue their education in pursuing a master's degree. In terms of career academic preparation, knowledge and skills acquired at undergraduate level are far from adequate. A sound fact is that an increasing number of graduates are returning, motivated by the need to update their knowledge and enhance their skills. The news that graduates with higher degrees are better off spreads from shrinking job market.
All this indicates that a bachelor's degree can hardly qualify students for a competitive position. If I am faced with the choice, I prefer to stay and pursue a M. A. degree. I know my choice will mean a commitment of time and money. But opportunities always take the form of hardships and risks. The days might be rigorous and painstaking, but they would certainly be fulfilling and rewarding, and would surely lead to a prosperous future.
